I literally plugged it in to my MacBook Pro ( I did have Toast Titanium already installed) and started burning Blu-Ray disks. It's relatively fast, and so far all discs have played. I have used it to burn Blu-Ray discs as well as burn and copy SD DVD's. I've used it via fire-wire and USB with little difference in speed. It is expensive, but If you need a Blu-Ray burner for a Mac- it's great. I have an HD video camera and was tired of viewing lower quality SD video. No you can't watch Blu-Ray's on it - that's not what it was intended for.
