(More customer reviews)I bought this laptop after returning a comparable (in specs, not quality) HP product (the G72) and it's probably the best decision I've made all year. I got mine for $650, si I feel like I won the lottery, but even at $950, it's a win.
Pros:
-The keyboard is comfortable and seems sturdy.
-The touchpad and mouse buttons work perfectly and the textured touch pad is a nice feature.
-Speed and graphics are great. I'm not a gamer, but streaming video is gorgeous and running multiple programs at once is no problem at all.
-Relatively little bloatware came pre-installed.
-Initial set-up was quick and painless.
-Creating recovery discs only required 3 DVDs (as opposed to the 8 required by an HP).
-Power cord angles which lessens the chance of breaking down over time from repeated curving.
-Mic and headphone ports are in front.
-Unlike some Vaios, the power button is not on the side of the machine, which means less chance of accidental shut down.
-I worried that the white keyboard would be both visually irritating and a problem for showing dust, but neither are an issue.
-The sound, while somewhat tinny (as most laptops), is decent and gets fairly loud
Cons:
-All USB ports are on the same (right) side.
-Not very long battery life (though at least Vaio is honest about the length up front, as compared to HP prducts that claim 5.5 hours and actually get 2-3).
-On the heavy side.
All-in-all, the Vaio is a solid machine and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.
