(More customer reviews)Hey I purchased the entire setup, the 55 inch Samsung 3D tv, the glasses 5 pair and the dvd starter kit. I played the movie perfect out of the box. In 2D mode made some changes went back to 3D and got the crosstalk that is being mentioned in earlier post. Best Buys setup did not have it. Geek squad not familiar enough with it when they came to the house. I played with the settings with the bluray 3D player on went into the controls for the 3D setting (that only can be adjusted when 3D player is on and running) go into tv menu and under the 3D setting very last option that is blanked out unless 3D player is running is the box (3D Optimize) some are set to 0 some are plus 1. I set mine to -1 and picture cleared right up. 3D optimize when at 0 or +1 I got ghosting or cross talk. Set to -1 and picture calibrated fine. I am not sure what changed this or maybe I made the change when I was adjusting settings earlier. It only shows to allow changes when the 3D player is running. Player, TV and glasses work great. Samsung should put out a quick book on the settings for 3D this to me was important. None of the other settings and adjustments worked and not until I turned on 3D player and looked it all over did I find this adjustment and make the change. Great TV, now we need more movies!

Samsung BD-C6900 1080p 3D Blu-ray Disc Player Review

(More customer reviews)Samsung's BD-C6900 is one of the first Blu-ray 3D players on the market (the other being Panasonic's DMP-BDT300 and upcoming DMP-BDT350). As a first generation Blu-ray 3D player, you have to expect a few glitches (and you'll get them), but if you're itching to watch 3D TV at home in full HD 1080p, this player will get the job done, with a few nice perks and one potentially major caveat.
There is a lot to like about the BD-C6900 including super-fast boot-up and load times : 8 seconds to boot, 11 seconds to load a DVD and an almost unbelievable 18 seconds to load a BD-Java Blu-ray title ("Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl"). This is about twice as fast to load a BD-Java disc compared to the otherwise super-speedy OPPO BDP-83 player, and is less than 1/3 the load time of the Pioneer BDP-320 on the same title. It also offers a wealth of IPTV options and web widgets, including Netflix and VUDU streaming, YouTube and Pandora (among others). And with DLNA networking, you can connect it to your networked computers to access (and stream), audio, video and photo content like nobody's business.
As a 3D player, it seems to perform exactly as designed - we say "seems" because the only real 3D content we have on Blu-ray 3D Disc to test with is the Monsters vs. Aliens promo disc that Samsung includes in the 3D Starter Kit. When connected to a Samsung UN55C8000 3D LED/LCD TV, the MvA disc looked fantastic using the Samsung active shutter 3D glasses. Yes we did see some "crosstalk" (interference between left and right channels), but this was caused by the TV, not the player.
But as a 3D player, there is one little known caveat - yes the player is compatible with 2D TVs (in 2D mode) and with current HDMI 1.3 receivers, however, if you want to take full advantage of the audio and video capabilities of this player used with a 3D TV, then you will need to have one of the brand new HDMI 1.4-equipped audio video receivers. Current HDMI 1.3 receivers *cannot* pass through the HDMI 1.4 3D video signal to a compatible 3D TV. This means that if you want to take advantage of lossless audio codecs (Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio), your only option is to upgrade to an HDMI 1.4-equipped receiver or use the player's multi-channel analog outputs and let the player do the decoding. And this is neither the easiest to set-up nor the highest quality option as it relies on the bass management and speaker configuration capabilities of the player, which are weaker than the bass management capabilities of most receivers.
Panasonic's Blu-ray 3D players get around this limitation by providing two HDMI outputs: an HDMI 1.4 3D-enabled output (to connect directly to the display or to an HDMI 1.4 receiver) and a legacy HDMI 1.3 output for connecting to an HDMI 1.3 receiver. Is this a show-stopper? It might be if you don't want to upgrade your receiver (again). But if you only use the speakers built into your TV (blech!), or you're happy with the legacy lossy surround formats (Dolby Digital and regular DTS) which you can get from the optical output, OR if you have an HDMI 1.4-compliant A/V receiver then this will not be a problem for you.
As a standard 2D Blu-ray player, we found that the BD-C6900 was a mixed bag - some upconversion tasks like odd cadence detection and correction as well as standard 2:3 film cadence detection, were performed well, as was the player's treatment of diagonal lines: no jaggies visible here, even on the spinning white line torture tests on the HQV benchmark discs. But we were surprised to see some noticeable digital artifacts on standard Blu-ray Discs such as "Blade Runner" - the intro title sequence looked less than ideal with ghosting in the title sequence and beyond that, some noise and blockiness in the black backgrounds that we have not seen on other players.
Overall, the BD-C6900 is a pretty solid Blu-ray and DVD player, but for the 2D Blu-ray playback artifacts and HDMI 1.3-receiver incompatibility. If these factors are not important to you, then you are likely to be happy with it. If not, then wait for Samsung's higher end Blu-ray 3D player, coming later this year (not yet announced) or take a look at the Panasonic or Sony Blu-ray 3D players when they become more widely available.

Samsung SSG-2200AR Re-chargeable Adult 3-D Glasses - Black (Compatible with 2010 3D TVs) Review

(More customer reviews)The SSG-2200AR 3D glasses work. They have a solid field of view, have a sturdy feel, don't weigh enough to cause discomfort, and don't rely on potentially pricy batteries that have to be replaced each month.
That said, there are a couple of major flaws with these glasses that should be mentioned. The first, and most concerning, is the IR sensor. Active shutter glasses use IR, just like a TV remote, to sync the glasses so that the lenses block frames intended for the other eye. The sensors on these glasses are far too sensitive. During bright flashes, including some chapter transitions in movies, the sensor gets confused and shuts the glasses down for a second or so. It's not long and doesn't happen constantly, but it does get annoying especially during intense action sequences. This is easily fixed with a tiny strip of opaque tape, but remains a questionable design decision that will hopefully be rectified in future generations.
The other issue is more a misconception. The ~$50 premium to get the rechargeable batteries can appear to be a pretty good deal, but it's not. The CR2025's required by the SSG-2100AB (the same ones included with the 3D Starter Kit) are expensive in stores like Best Buy, but are widely available online for under $1 each; Amazon sells 24 (12x2) Enegizer cells in that range. The replaceable battery lasts for about 50 hours (versus 30 for the Li-ion in these) which is about a month depending on viewing habits. For a single pair of glasses, it would take 4 years to make up the extra cost, assuming that the energy cost of recharging is negligible. Another factor to consider is down time. If a battery dies in the 2100AB, you can pause the movie and have a new one going in a minute. Should the rechargeable battery drain, there is a two hour charge time before they can be used again. Add that to the more frequent stoppages from the lower capacity, more movie nights can be halted more severely. At the very least, having a battery-powered pair on standby is recommended. With prices where they are, that's a lot of money for a backup.
I'm knocking a star for each of the two issues I've had with them. From a value proposition, these really aren't that great a deal. From a technical aspect, even with a quick and cheap fix available, it is troubling that such a fault wasn't caught before retail. If you can deal with an ugly piece of tape on the front, don't mind the possibility of having to take a 2-hour break once or twice a month, and don't mind paying extra, give these a look.

(More customer reviews)I just bought this so I only have a few hours on it. The good. Exceptional piture. Dark blacks of course. But I really bought this for the 3D. I had narrowed my choices down to the samsung pn59D8000 and the Panasonic p55VT30. The 3D on the samsung looked a little artificial to me, that is like the cardboard cut out books that you open and they have one flat image after another. The Panasonic however has a real nice graduation of 3D from front to back. I really liked the new Samsung glasses, the bluetooth connection, light weight, large lenses, and even balance. I still don't like the feel of the Panasonic glasses but they say they are comming out with better ones mid summer. I don't like that Panasonic is still using infared since anything in the path of the beam cuts the 3D. The feature that really wow's me is the 2D to 3D conversion. Oh My God! the Panasonic is soooo much better than the Samsung in this respect. I'd swear the 2D movies I've been watching with this feature are 3D. It has minimum, medium, and maximum settings for this. I like the medium setting which gives a lot of 3D without distorting the 3D effect like the maximum setting does. My local dealer did a good job of matching internet prices and free delivery and set up. The spider stand on the D8000 was really flimsy in real life. So I like the Panasonics heavier but more solid pedestal better. I wanted to buy the VT25 from last year but was still disappointed in the amount of light loss when putting on the 3D glasses. This year the amount of light loss is much much less than last year, even tolerable. Sound is actually pretty good but I still run it through my Denon 7.1 surround system. Another thing that steered me away from the Samsung were all the reports of poor customer service on displays that went out. I wish Panasonic would slim the bezel down more, and go to a wireless glasses recharger.
I have both the Samsung BD-C6900 Blue-ray player and the Panasonic BDT350. Love the Samsung, hate the Panasonic. The Panasonic is not as user friendly, not as pretty, takes forever to load, and makes alot of clicking/humming/buzzing noises when playing a disk. It didn't start out that way but it's been less than a year and already it sounds like a five year old player. The quality of picture produced by each player is basically a wash for me. I really can't tell any difference. I'll try to update this as I get more experience with the TV. Oh by the way - I'm not a football fan but watching it in 3D is like being on the field, incredible. And I was just told buy my sales person that there has been a price drop on the current set of 3d glasses. They are now available for $49.99
UPDATE: 07/12/11 I've bought two additional 55" ST30's so I can put them side by side as part of an "eyefinity" setup on my computer. The ST30's are suprisingly pretty good but I had to go through one return due to one looking grainy (a known not uncommon issue with panasonics in general and the ST30's specifically). Now if they can only get rid of the bezel.
UPDATE: Well first day and already its gone bad. I got the vertical black bar that covers about an eighth of the screen about 3/4 of the way on the right side. In researching similar problems it might indicate the Plasma Display Panel (PDP) was defective. It appears I have a vertical block that is bad. Retailer is getting me another one tomorrow.
UPDATE: Ok new TV working well. On the standard picture setting its really too dark. So I increased the brightness by changing to game or cinema. I've been watching 2d movies with the 2d to 3d conversion with good results. I just watched my first real 3D movie "Tangled". I have seen the 2D version of this movie about 5 times but watching it in 3D is like seeing it for the first time. WOW! I'll never be able to watch it in 2D again. The details are amazing. You notice every blade of grass, every leaf on the trees, every strand of hair on people, all sorts of things I've never noticed before like birds flying in the fore and background, butterfies and pollen, textures on just about everything! The only negative I see in 3D is when somthing moves fast like a swinging arm. I don't know if its motion blur or just me not being able to focus fast enough. The picture is brighter and clearer with better 3D than I've seen in the theaters. I have a 2009 Samsung 63" plasma which I still like the 2D bright, clear, sharp picture of over this Panasonic. But for 3D I'm quite satisfied. I also use this set as my main computer monitor. It's fun to watch online movie content with the 2D to 3D conversion active.
UPDATE: The way I see it the ST30, GT30, and VT30 are basically good, better, best. The best way for me to describe the picture quality difference is similar to watching a 60hz refresh rate and then watching an 80hz refresh rate. The picture just seems clearer, sharper, and more stable. Now the thing that really suprised me was watching 3D on the ST30's. It was as good as the VT30. In fact I had a really hard time trying to tell the difference. So is it worth the difference in price? Hmmmm hard question to answer. As you can see even though I have the money for three VT30's, I opted for one VT30 plus two ST30's and I'm happy with the results. I tried the apps and they are great but all the ones I like wanted money. I guess I'm not ready to pay for them. As far as the 55" being big enough to watch 3D, yes, in fact for movies I have to back up a little from my usual four foot distance to a six foot distance to get the whole thing in my fileld of view. I know people out there probably think its insane to sit so close, but I really like to immerse myself in my movies and games and the hd quality of both the VT30 and ST30 allow me to do that.
UPDATE: 07/26/11 The 63" Samsung I was mentioning earlier that I liked so much has started to fail after 17 months. A $3600.00 then top of the line set that bragged about how long they were supposed to last. Luckily I read many of the Amazon.com reviews on the Samsung flat screens and bought a two year extended warrenty. I just don't understand all the failures on the Samsung and Panasonic TV's. It's like they have no quality control going on in the factories.
Update: 08/02/11 The $350.00 repairs on the Samsung 63" are done and the picture is back to looking amazing. I say wow everytime I see it. I mention this for people who are trying to decide between Panasonic and Samsung. After watching the repairs I could have done it my self for a $40.00 part and 15 minutes of work. It was that easy.

SainSonic 3D Rechargeable Infrared Active Shutter Glasses For Panasonic 3D HDTVs Review

(More customer reviews)Warning: the average person probably won't care about the color/contrast issues I'm seeing but if you are anal about video quality like I am, hopefully you'll find this review helpful in your purchasing decision. I was going to give it a 2 star rating but felt that was too harsh for the average person buying these. If you are a video quality nerd, consider this a 2 star rating. :)
Like most people, I bought this because of: a) the cheap price and b) rechargeable usb capabilities vs replaceable batteries.
Pros: fairly comfortable, easy to sync with tv, 3d performance seemed identical to panasonic glasses minus the issues listed under "cons"
Cons: Reflections near the corners of the glasses (not a big deal in my living room though)
This was the dealbreaker for me... the color quality is very muted and the contrast is lacking compared to the panasonics. To know exactly how muted, look at a 3d image on your tv without the glasses and notice how washed out the color palette appears. These glasses seem to add zero saturation and color correction to that as opposed to the panasonic glasses which definitely show a boost in color and even slight contrast once you look through them. It also seems like the colors are way cooler than they should be. It was very appararent in Avatar because of how lush and vibrant the jungles and creatures are. I also tested out some 3D PS3 games and the same problems came up. To be 100 percent sure, I switched between these glasses and my panasonics back and forth and consistently the color/contrast issues were obvious.
Maybe this is only an issue with my hardware but it still bums me out nonetheless. Also, it's possible my particular glasses could be faulty but I'm not going to assume the latter due to the cheap price and lack of professional reviews. "If it's too good to be true it probably is" is what I'll be going by. My specs = Panasonic 50 in. VT20 with latest software updates as of today. PS3 MGS edition with latest updates as of today.
For anybody who has purchased these already and owns either the VT20 or VT25, please test out these glasses vs the panasonics looking for what I mentioned above and let everyone know if you are seeing the same thing or that it's just me and my particular setup.

Samsung SSG-P2100T - 3D glasses - active shutter Review

I bought a samsung 3d tv (490 model) a few weeks ago. Was searching amazon for a good deal on the glasses and I stumbled across 2 different products with the same model number for the starter kit. One had what looked like an older version of the box and the other a newer picture with the Monster Vs. Aliens promo on the front. When comparing the 2 different listings, I found that they both came with 2 pairs of sunglasses and the MvA movie. The only difference I could find between the 2 was a price difference, mixed reviews for the one that seemed older, and maybe a cosmetic box difference. So after contemplating I decided to purchase what seemed to be the older version for a very low price of 135.00 for the box set(while the other was selling for 350.00) . I figured if I received them and they did not work I could just return them.
In 5 days I receive my package and open it up to find a pair of the glasses in the newer box with the MvA promo on the front. Open up the package and put in the MvA movie into my PS3 and put the glasses on and the 3d was working great.
I also downloaded a few of the 3d game demos in the ps store and they also worked great. I have not yet had any issues with these glasses.
These glasses fit fine over a pair of square frame glasses, although they are not the most comfortable or stylish, they don't bug to the point you want to take them off. Cant wait for more 3d titles to be released.Overall a great purchase at $135 and I dont think there is any difference between this and the other higher price product with the same model number.

(More customer reviews)The passive 3-D works quite well, but you will want to be eye level with the set. (No above the fireplace mounting here) There is almost no ghosting at all, even on content which contains crosstalk on my 3-D plasma. Resolution IS reduced (I can easily tell) but it isn't that bad and as long as you sit far enough away from the set, you won't see scan lines. The 3-D from blu-ray 3D is bright and of course the polarized glasses are lightweight and easily replaceable. Directv's 3-D channels are bit softer on this set but still acceptable.
Is it as good as my active 3-D set? Not quite, as the active has better picture quality, but the passive set comes out on top even over the plasma as far as lack of ghosting/crosstalk goes. I think most casual 3-D viewers would be quite pleased. 2-D to 3-D conversion is probably the best I've seen also, though I would rarely use this feature.
I wouldn't call active obsolete (after all, 3-D content works on either kind of set, just as you can choose between LCD, plasma or DLP, you can choose active or passive) but if they can get the resolution to be better (full 1080p in both eyes) I would expect the market to go in the passive direction.
2-D picture is excellent, and the various apps and internet features are well executed.

Sony STR-DN1010 7.1-Channel A/V Blu-Ray Receiver Review

So, I finally found myself in a position to upgrade my home audio. For many years I used and rather enjoyed my 5 dic DVD changing home theater in a box (Sony DAV-HDX500/i BRAVIA Home Theater System) but still didn't feel like I was getting the full audio experience out of my movies and music. Since I recently purchased a new 3D TV Samsung UN55C7000 55-Inch 1080p 240 Hz 3D LED HDTV (Black) and I already had a PlayStation 3 160 GB I figured my best option was to find an A/V receiver that would make the most of the 3D Blu-Ray functionality of the PS3 and the Samsung UN55C7000. After much research, and slowly piecing together a 7.1 collection of quality speakers, I decided to take a gamble and purchase the Sony STR-DN1010.
Initial Setup:
When the STR-DN1010 arrived via UPS I was excited. Upon unboxing, I immediately noticed the sleek and contemporary design and was pleased that it went so well with the decor in the family room. Having already run the speaker wires all I needed to do was; connect the wires to the appropriate receiver ports; connect the PS3, DVR/cable box, and TV; and plug the receiver's power in.
I open the user manual and it takes you through the usual inital setup steps I previously accomplished, so I flip to the speaker calibration section. Included in the box is a Auto-Calibration microphone which works surprisingly well. All I needed to do was plug it into the front of the receiver and follow the steps in the manual. This is where it gets a little complicated. I wanted to manually adjust my speaker but was having trouble navigating the on-screen GUI (graphical user interface). Response from the GUI had slight latency issues (as in it wasn't a 1:1 response from the remote commands). The manual seems to be made for above average tech consumer but I managed to figured most of it out and everything worked flawlessly.
Audio and Video Performance:
After everything was tweaked to my liking I first tested the audio performance from the cable box. Sound was great for the most part but after cycling through the numerous sound modes I noticed that in Sports mode audio sounds like someone speaking into a plastic tube, this was a minor complaint. Sports in general look and sound phenominal.
Next I tested Blu-Ray performance via the PS3. I checked the audio quality using The Matrix Blu-Ray on the scene where Neo and Trinity break into the building where the agents have Morpheus held captive. From the booming shotgun fire to the loud thud of guards getting kicked to the high twinkling of expended shells hitting the floor, I was in awe of the clarity of sound not to mention the crisp quality of video. Next I checked out the 3D video quality of Despicable Me 3D. Absolute perfection I couldnt find a thing to complain about here.
Since I had a Sony TDM-IP1 Digital Media Port iPod Dock from my previous home theater in a box I connected it to the receiver and plopped my ipod onto it to test my digital audio collection. Since I like The Roots (hip hop band) and they use live instrumentation in most of their music, I decided to use the album "How I Got Over" as my test material. Bass guitars sounded smooth and organic, percussion was precise and thumping, and vocal sounded live. Basically it all sounded like I was right in the studio with the artists. Great reproduction from the receiver, once again no real complaints here.
Conclusion:
In closing, this A/V receiever was everything I was looking for. I purchased an open box item here on Amazon so I only paid a little over $300 USD for it with free super saver shipping. Considering the price and performance I got this receiver, I feel like I got a hell of a deal. As far as gripes and complaints they're minor. The plastic speaker terminals used to connect the speaker wires to the receiver are a little cheap but sturdy enough to get the job done. I suggest you buy banana plugs to offset this. Another drawback is the lack of HDMI inputs this receiver has compared to comparable receivers of other brands (this has 4 in and 1 out, most others have 6 HDMI inputs). And lastly, not so much a problem for me but if you dont have a Sony Ipod dock you have to shell out roughly another $100 just to get on screen control of your Ipod through the receiver. Of course, you could always just use a 3.5mm audio cable to connect your ipod/mp3 player but you miss out on the on screen control. The manual requires a Rosetta Stone to decipher it, nuff said. (More customer reviews)I have a Panasonic 3D and wear normal glasses , the Panny's never seemed to fit comfortably for my tastes... These feel great , secure on my face , they seem lighter on my nose than the panny's. Wearing glasses inside these felt great because they go snug around your head.You do have to set the glasses for your tv model , for some reason I thought it would automatically do it so that was a little bummer... you have to hold down the power and cycle the button until it matches your brand... it will remember it the next time so no big deal but if you do bring them to someone else's house you will have to remember how to do this or explain it to someone who is using them. My local theater is not xpand so I cannot try the cinema part but thats another setting too! so dont lose those instructions... So if your looking to buy a second or third 3d glasses for your rig consider these for its transportability and at least a change of pace from the glasses that your tv brand forces on you.

Mitsubishi Diamond Series WD-65838 65-Inch 3D DLP HDTV Review

(More customer reviews)I researched many TVs before buying this one. I focused on Plasma, LED, and LCD sets. I had settled on a 65inch plasma and went to the store to purchase one. The salesman asked me if I had looked at DLP? I didn't even know they still made DLP sets to be honest. I was very impressed with the picture quality of the Mits DLP TVs.Then.......he showed me a football game in 3D on this set.....it was AWESOME! If you are a sports fan - do yourself a favor and go to a store and watch demo's on these TVs - it is like you are at the event. During all viewing, the black levels and white levels are very good and the color is sharp and infinately adjustable. You would have to spend 2X-3X as much on a top end plasma or LED to rival the picture quality and 3D capability of the Mits 65838.
I ended up choosing the 838 model rather than the 738 due to the additional sound capability of the 838. As I was shopping for the flat panel TVs I noticed the sound was never very good. The room we have the TV in is pretty big and I need good sound. When I bought the TV, Mits was throwing in a free Polk subwoofer with purchase. The sub can be hooked directly to the 838. That subwoofer + the 16 built in speakers produces phenominal sound. I also have a full AV receiver/surround system hooked up, but I did not want to mess with having to power everything up every time I wanted to watch TV - now I don't have to!
The brightness and viewing angles are good on this set. I have the TV on a 19inch stand. No noticable dimming when standing/sitting if you are more than 6 feet away. I would estimate that viewing angles are good to 150-160 degrees without any real noticable dimming.
Lastly, I find the menu system easy to use. The TV was easy to set up and navigate with. The only downsides I have found to this set:
1. 3D capabilities - it is still early and you will have to buy the Mits 3D adapter set to view a lot of the content. They have been promising a firmware update to the 738 and 838 series to take car of this, but nothing yet.
2. There is a noticable delay when switching between HD channels. Folks in the forums have commented on this, regardless of service type (Comcast, DirectTV, etc).
3. The factory default settings for color/brightness/contrast are not great. I found I had to spend some time in the advanced menu getting it dialed in to get the proper contrast/brightness/color. It is not hard to do and the menu is easy to understand, it just takes some time.

I will add that it seems a little dark but a simple brightness adjustment fixed that for the most part. My problem with this product is that you have to send a voucher in to get your movies I did this online and it was very simple to do the problem is it said it will take 10 to 12 weeks to delivery I see no reason for it to take that long as there is not a lot of 3d contant right now and you would think that samsung would want me to be able to enjoy my movies as soon as possible considering how much money I gave them

(More customer reviews)This is a weird purchase for me, coming from being a SONY & Samsung Fanboy. This is the most outstanding 2D picture I have ever laid my eyes on, and I have seen many High-end Television sets. I almost bought a Sony XBR-HX909 for the super high reviews on its amazing 2D image. But once I saw the 3D image I was a bit thrown off by the 3D technology, after already owning a Panasonic 3D Viera which was much better. So this is what I have gathered from my total experience with the Vizio 3D HDTV:
-PROS-
+The purchased place with Amazon was better than I thought it would have been. Easy, Fast, Free Shipping, NO TAX (Tax is around $115 if you buy from a store), and perfectly cared for; Sam's Club is scary, lol.
+47 inches of "OMG! It is bigger than I thought." This set gives so much at this price, quality, and Size!!!
+The LED television is thicker, due to the 160 LEDs being directly behind the screen. This makes for better contrast that will blow your mind away!!! I have never seen this kind of true black on a set ever before. Sony sells this technology for around $3,500; yikes!
+Features, Features, Features!!! The WiFi works amazingly. The Netflix app play videos at a higher resolution than my PS3 or computer using HDMI. The WebTV programs are limited but they are great, like Revision3. There is Vudu rental, Amazon Steaming, and of course Netflix. There is Pandora and a radio app for local radio station; or any state you want.
+The best built-in speakers! The sound is out outrageous, there is simply no thin TV that can house speaker like the ones on this set. I was going to buy a 5.1 Dolby system for the room, but I only turn the volume up 20% on the Vizio. I recommend to turn Truevolume off, if causes weird volume changes. This feature is on most Televisions with different names, but always cause volume issues; much like ipod's volume settings.
+The remote is bluetooth and an amazing little device. All remotes should be like this one!!! It is universal, and automatically has the codes in the television for all devices but the PS3; due to the PS3 syncing. But the XBOX 360 is compatible! TIVO, DirectTV, etc. The keyboard is great for the apps and Facebook! Since it is bluetooth, like the PS3 Blu-ray remote, the signal is always connected, so the buttons are harder to press so you don't accidentally change channels. This is a good thing.
+Bluetooth means wireless headphones so you don't bother others who don't want to hear the TV; like my girlfriend when she is sleeping. You can buy Vizio's headsets, or any bluetooth headset you may have will work as well.
+The accessories like the Vizio Router, Bluetooth Headset, or Vizio Stereo equipment are made easy and for a great price (high ratings from CNET). The 3D Glasses are sold seperately, but only cost around $150 for two rechargeable glasses. That is about the price that SONY or Samsung sells for one Pair!!! Very Cheap for 3D!!! 2 SONY pairs will buy you 4 Vizio pairs. A lot of the other 3D TVs come with one pair, or no glasses at all.
+The Price is dead on with AWESOME!!! It is robbery!!! I payed $1500, and chose Amazon after the tax factor of buying in a store. The 480hz (really 240hz) makes 2D images amazing, and not look fake at all! Remember to turn this feature all the way to high, because it is turned off out-of-the-box.
Okay, well here is the BAD:
CONS
-There is no SD slot, but this is not a problem really. There is 3 USB ports! 3!!! I never used the SD slot on my Panasonic, it is kind of useless.
-The 3D is not like my Plasma 3D. BUT!!! The Plasma does great 3D, but not a great 2D image. 3D is a fun factor, don't take it seriously and you will be fine. The ghosting issue is present, but it is present on every 3D set I have seen but the Panasonic 3D Plasmas. The 3D can be down right horrible on the PS3 video games at times, but does okay on the movies. Remember that 3D is not a every moment thing on this set. It is used rarely and on all 3D pictures you can turn it off to 2D. I personally like the 3D and the glasses, but don't think that there will be any set better than this, other than the Plasmas. The real focus should be that the TVs 480hz (really 240hz) is used for better 3d, but really make the biggest difference on the 2D image; which is amazing!
-Size, is a bit thicker, but it is because it has to be in order to produce the images at the 10,000,000:1 Contrast. I think the set is beautiful, and my friends freak out how beautiful it is in person! So Size is nothing but a few inches difference. You should really not worry about size though, you can't see how thick the TV is, but you can tell the Image difference.
IN THE END
This Television out preforms all the Television set I have seen, even the Samsung 8000 series. It has so many features, you will feel that you just robbed Vizio of their money about $1000. The 3D is okay, but you shouldn't worry; no one will have a TV even close in quality to this one! The accessories are great, with amazing prices. You will ultimately feel that you are leagues ahead of any other TV. The black are literally black (the led turn off), the whites are bright as all hell, the color are beyond anything you know! You cannot go wrong with this purchase. I hate to say it, but Vizio converted me away from the other brands (Sony, Samsung, etc.). The Reviews from CNET are endlessly great too! This should be the happiest purchase on a Television set you will ever have. Good luck, and feel free to post extra question, I will answer back :)

Samsung PN50C490 50-Inch 720p Plasma 3D HDTV Review

(More customer reviews)I had been wanting to make the leap to 3D ever since I heard 3D would become available to the public for home use on HDTVs. Having priced a few out I just did not feel it was worth the jump quite yet. Then I came across this TV on Amazon. I did a lot of research finding reviews and reading impressions from various HD forums. Finally I went to Best Buy to try this out for myself and was quite impressed.
So after much debate I picked one up with one pair of glasses since it's just me. Got a deal for $969 and that is with tax. Prior to I owned a 47inch 1080p Vizio which I've had for 3 years and was a great set for the price point as well. I can say without a shadow of doubt that even without the 3D feature the picture quality of this TV for Bluray blows away my old 1080p Vizio. Not sure how that is possible since this set is at a lower resolution but there is no fooling my eyes and what I am saying is true. The colors are vivid and the blacks are REAL black. The Vizio which was an LCD always had a white glare from back light issues of the bulbs.
Video games look fantastic. My only issue with the set is two things. My PC did look better on the Vizio because it offered a much brighter picture and on the Samsung it's not as bright. Not a deal killer but this should be noted. The other issue is with 3D games only such as Avatar, Pacific Drift 3D and MLB the show the resolution is also meh in 3D mode compared to non 3D games which look banging.
I have yet to try out a 3D movie but ordered Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs and Monster House on Amazon and will edit this review to include impressions of those two true 3D movies.
The 2D-3D conversion looks fantastic on Blurays and broadcast TV so that's a win for this set.
It's like this, if you REALLY want a 3D set as I did and do not want to spend an arm and a leg as what other sets cost this is your best bet as the technology evolves and improves. If anything you will be getting a fantastic HDTV set for a fraction of what some of the other higher end sets cost and will tide you over until the technology reaches a point of 3D sans glasses which is what I am waiting for. Honestly there is very little difference between this 720p and 1080p models.

Just wanted to say that I am just in love with this TV.
One example I wanted to share is I recently got the Alien movies on Bluray and had been waiting to watch them until I had this TV in place so I could try out the 2D-3D conversion. Well I can tell you that I am on the 2nd movie Aliens and have the this feature turned on with a depth of 10 so it's peaked out and my god it looks amazing. It's almost as if the movie was filmed in 3D but I realize a lot of that has to do with the way Cameron shot the film so kudos to him for being a visionary back in 1986 because it just rocks. Especially any of the scenes in space the level of depth really brings you in when this feature is turned on. Amazing.
Still waiting on my delivery of the Blurays that are True 3D and will post impressions as soon as I get them.Edit Review day 4:
Just finished watching Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Without a doubt this TV delivers the real deal with 3D as if you are in the theater. The movie looked great in 3D. Was sharp and the 3D truly pops. I am still blown away however at the 2D-3D conversion for other Bluray movies. I also for the fun of it popped in Star Wars on DVD and yes it works great with that as well.
I just cannot praise enough about how awesome this TV is for the price point and have zero regrets about picking one up.

The TV continues to blow me away with each movie I watch in the 2D-3D conversion. The glasses were the only issue with this set. I got the free pair that came with it. What was happening was that the glasses would lose sync during scenes with high action or a lot of light. What fixed it was taking a small piece of opaque tape and placing it over the sensor on the glasses. Ever since the picture has been perfect. A small irritation that has an easy quick fix but felt I should point it out to any other owners of this set or anyone planning on getting one on how to avoid/fix the issue.

LG AG-S100 3D Active Shutter Glasses for 2010 LG 3D HDTVs Review

The quality of the glasses are top notch. They are definitely not like the flimsy glasses from the theater. THEY ARE ACTIVE SHUTTER. (That means little magical creatures inside each lens opens and closes the blinds so fast that the naked eye cant see it happening! And they have to do this opposite from each other! that must be why they're so expensive. Well sorta...)
They paired well with the 47LX6500. I have only watched free Comcast 3D movies and noticed a little ghosting, although very minor. This is probably attributed to the quality of the programming. I have yet to buy a 3D bluray so I haven't had a chance to test the glasses in that way. The 3D effect should improve with the quality of the media. Also, ambient lighting is sometimes an issue.
One thing to note is that these only come with USB Charging cables. This is mainly a problem for me since I don't have 4 USB wall chargers handy. I have to either use my single iphone charging cube or plug them into my computer. 4 of them... (Could be worse I guess; could have only come with 1 USB charging cable for all 4)
The price is expensive for the 3D experience. I probably would have sacrificed 3D if not for this great combo deal. The price of active shutter glasses will probably be something that will prevent 3D from becoming more mainstream, for now. Would people buy this experience for their family at ~ $100 - $200 a pop?
Would have given 5 stars if not for the MSRP price (1/2 star) and the USB cables (another 1/2 star).

Samsung UN46C8000 46-Inch 1080p 3D 240 Hz LED HDTV Review

(More customer reviews)This TV is absolutely stunning. I was actually waiting for the C9000 to come out, but that TV's price is way over the limit. I found out that this TV which is the next step down and actually has the exact same technology as the C9000 minus the touchscreen remote (which can be bought seperately) and the slim profile, not a big deal considering the TV already looks beautiful and is half the price or less then a C9000!
In all honesty, I think this TV has one of the nicest pictures I've ever seen. One example is the pin-point dimming, which has garnered a lot of criticsm and skeptisism. I have seen the production TV model live and I must tell you, I think it's better then local-dimming and I'll tell you why... Unless there is a new panel that is made to fix the local-dimming "halo affect", this is currently the only way to get outradgeous contrast levels without that problem. The pin-point dimming on this TV dramatically lowers the dark spots on the screen in certain area's without a halo affect and actually goes completely pitch black when watching movies with dark screens just like a local-dimming TV. I think this TV actually excels at the dimming part over a local-dimming TV because it creates supurb black levels without any halo affects. That's a huge deal for me. Next is the color accuracy of this panel, I think the whites and colors on this TV are probably better then I've ever seen. Sure Plasma's can sometimes have better color temperatures, but they will not pop out of the screen with ambience like this TV shows. This TV is sharp looking and beautiful and it displays wonderful 3D and High-definition like never before.
Last, but not least... this tv is LOADED with features, easily making it one of the most feature rich TV's there is on the market. It's completely wireless, has 4-hdmi conenctions, has internet applications and streaming capabilities and best yet, it does it well! I have done a lot of research and have compared this TV with it's newest competitors and this one is it. Don't just take my word for it, go see it for yourselves and you'll just see what I am talking about.

Panasonic VIERA TC-P42GT25 42-inch 1080p 3D Plasma HDTV, Black Review

My last TV was a 32 inch Magnavox LCD. Picture was exceptionally bright, but HD channels looked great connected via component cable. For some reason, HDMI would not work with my cable box and that TV. While picture was bright, darker colors left much to be desired.
I ordered this TV and got it in 2 days. I must say, I was pleasantly suprised by the freight carrier, Pilot. They actually arrived earlier than my stated time, ehich worked out well because I was home. The box had not a mark on it. When I get packages from UPS or FedEx, it looks like they've played soccer with the packages. The box was in excellent condition. The delivery guy carried it by himeself on his shoulder up to my apartment.
It took maybe about 1/2 hour to unpackage and set up, and connect my cables. Though it's suggested to do this with a helper, I was able to put together and lift myself. It was a bit on the heavy side, but it was not too difficult to do alone.
I was thrilled when I turned on the set. The picture is crystal clear, and dark colors look excellent on this screen. HD looks awesome.
Since I bought the package, I got the 2 pair of glasses, the 2 BluRay 3D discs and the 3D blu ray player. 3D on this set looks positively breathtaking. I have a number of 3D blu ray titles, and have been watching them on this screen. My cable company aslo has about 18 3D movies on demand, most free, in over-under format. They play fine on this TV through both component and HDMI.There are lot of settings, and advanced settings. If video setup is not familiar to you, I suggest you do as I did and sit down in front of the TV with the book and read through and adjust your settings as you see fit - it will be worth it.
Another great thing about this TV is the amount of inputs. There are 3 HDMI A/V inputs, 2 Component inputs with l/r audio inputs, 2 regular video inputs with l/r audio inputs, 2 USB ports and an SD/SDHC/SDHX slot. Including the coax antenna input, there are a total of 9 inputs on this set PLUS the 2 USB and SD slot - that's pretty impressive.
All of the input terminals can be labeled, using preset device names. They can even be disabled using the NOT USED label. Doing this will skip those choices from the input selector menu.
Picture quality? The color range really makes a difference in this set. Theres a black setting which can be set to ligher or darker. Setting it to darker makes a world of difference in HD content. You truly see black and black gradients clearly on this set. There is excellent color spectrum, without the banding I was used to with my LCD panel. The great thing about changing the color settings is that the settings are retained individually for each input. The THX setting for 2D mode, and Cinema setting for 3D mode really enhances the color and clarity of the displayed content.
I really wanted this set for the 3D capabilities. I have tons of my own 3D content (photos and videos) which I was viewing on my 3D computer monitor. Everything is just so much bigger viewing it on this set. I was quite startled at the size difference of the 42 inch (OK, 41.6 inch) screen compared to my old 32 inch screen.
Since my main purpose was 3D with this set, I'll mention it again, full HD 3D is truly amazing viewed with this setup. People have complained about the glasses being uncomfortable, but I have no cpmplaints with the glasses. The Full HD 3D exhibits almost no ghosting, and the little bit of ghosting I have seen is not at all distracting to me. By comparison, the 3D content offered by the cable company does exhibit a bit more ghosting which at times does subtract from the enjoyment.
My only complaint about this set is the sound from the built in speakers. It's true that built in sound is never really good, even on the most expensive of sets, which is a shame. In this day and age, they could do better with sound delivery. There are bass and treble setting, and a bass boost function, but the bass boost really just distorts the lower frequencies. At higher volumes, bass is practically non-existant. There is a digital audio output to connect to a home theater receiver, but I no longer have one.
The Vieracast features might be nice, but I don't plan on using them, at least not yet. But it's nice to know they are there. There are also the Viera tools, that allow quick 3D settings, photo viewing, video viewing and other tools which I haven't really played with yet. Both the Vieracast and Viera tools can be accessed by dedicated buttons on the remote.
Internet setup was a breeze. I do have a gripe however, about having to pay an extra $70.00 for the wireless LAN adapter. For the price of this set, it should include wireless access out of the box.
If you are considering this set for purchase, download the manual from the Panasonic website and read through it. I did, and that swayed my decison.
I don't know what else to say. This is an excellent set with stunning picture quality, excellent 3D capabilities, lots of inputs, and extra features for those that want them. If you are even thinking about purchasing this set (or the 50 inch version), you must get the complete package with the glassess / movies / 3d Blu ray player. You're not paying for them anyway. When you first check out, you are being charged for the glasses kit and the blu ray player, but completing the purchase will deduct a small amount from the glasses kit and blu ray player, and the balance of each will be deducted from the price of the TV. In the end, your total payment will equal the price of the TV (not including tax, of course). GO FOR IT!
