(More customer reviews)Great picture, easy setup, but I agree with D. L..M about the AQUOS LINK. In fact, after reading that review I called Sharp to make sure my TV (1 month old) supports AQUOS LINK before ordering this player. They said it supported this feature so I ordered the player.
After getting the player, I couldn't get the AQUOS LINK function to work. I called back tech support, asked the same question - does this TV support AQUOS LINK? Yes they said. OK, tell me how to make it work. I'm put on hold, they come back after 10 minutes and tell me it is not supported.
So, heads up, these items might indicate your Sharp TV doesn't support AQUOS LINK: The remote doesn't have DVD function buttons, the little feature sticker on the side of your tv didn't say AQUOS LINK or your manual doesn't mention it. I guess that seems obvious, but since tech support said it would work, I just figured this was just a sharp feature that was inherent with the TV's and wasn't anything special.

Sharp BDHP35U Blu-ray Disc Player, Black Review

(More customer reviews)The Sharp HE BDHP35U DVD BluRay Player works great coupled with my SHARP HDTV 46" LE810UN. Previous to getting this player, we were using a PS2 as our DVD player. I could have probably got a BluRay player for less but the integration with my existing SHARP TV was my main criteria and I was willing to pay a little extra for it. If your TV is compatible with AQUOS LINK (which mine is), you can control both the TV and the player with simple operations. I am able to perform simple functions of the TV with the player's remote and functions of the player with the TV's remote. When the playback on the player is started the TV automatically knows the input without having to specify the input (which I would normally have to do with our game consoles PS2 and Wii). When the player is stopped, turning off the TV automatically turns off the player too. When you switch to the LCD TV input terminal connected to this player, the power of this player will be turned on automatically. The image quality is wonderful on up-converted standard DVDs. I recently watched the BluRay "Gnomeo and Juliet" with the kids and the picture quality with this player on my Sharp 46" was nothing short of incredible! With the AQUOS LINK, images are automatically adjusted to the most suitable image quality for the AQUOS TV. So far I am really happy with this player and the integration with my SHARP TV. The eject seems a bit slow as does the load time of DVDs, but nothing that is completely intolerable. Note: the manual is clear that there may be firmware updates on Sharp's product page, which there are, which will improve playback of discs and Netflix. Normally I go with Amazon, but I purchased this from Abt Electronics because they had the best price at the time.
Pros: Excellent Image Quality, Easy Set-Up, Seamless Integration with Sharp TVs, Backwards Compatible DVD Up-conversion, Wireless Internet via included dongle that plugs in the back.
Cons: A bit pricey compared to other BluRay players out there, but it does include the wireless dongle, and is 3D capable (which I don't care about).

Sharp HE BDHP25U Blu-Ray Disc Player -Black Review

(More customer reviews)Though it plays blu-ray discs just fine, it has a habit of crashing on exit from Netflix and VuDu. The only way to get out of the crash is to power off the box. In one case even that didn't work and had to unplug it. All in all, not the best unit IMHO.

Sharp Aquos BDHP21U 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player Review

(More customer reviews)The player ships with component cables but no HDMI cable so make sure you have one in your cart if you don't have a spare laying around the house. The unit doesn't support blu-ray live and since the network hardware and connections aren't present you'll never be able to upgrade this to support that feature, so it's not future-proof.
The player is also quite large and deep, more at home in a high-end component audio rack. This isn't really a drawback since the unit is quite sturdy and you won't feel to worried setting a decent size TV on it.
Setup was a snap, plugin HDMI, plug in power, power up, chose english as the language, put in a disk and you're watching the movie. Eventually you'll want to get to the configuration screen (like the sharp TV's the navigation is clean and easy) and enable quick load which, for some reason, is not enabled by default -- it really makes for a better product experience. There's also a setting to disable all the dashboard lights save for the power indicator which is a really nice touch.
Out of the box, this unit played all my blu-ray disks, not one failed to play and it upconverted my regular DvD's nicely. As expected the picture was sharp (heh), crisp and played smoothly.
The big selling point for me was the integration with my sharp TV and the unit does not fail to deliver. They work flawlessly together.
Without network support (BD-Live) product upgrades are handled by downloading a file to a usb thumb drive with your computer and connecting the drive to the player. I haven't had to use this option yet and since this unit adheres to the final spec I don't expect to need to use it.
You can find much cheaper players these days, but I'm satisfied with the purchase. It works as advertised.

Aquos 1080P Blu-ray Disc Player with Upconversion Review

(More customer reviews)Sharp doesn't even list this orphan model on their web site. And judging by their support area they don't pay any attention to these products. Presumably they are OEM (meaning they slap their label on some unknown manufacturer's work). This machine is absolute junk. The front panel buttons are non-responsive. You have to physically unplug the unit to force it to power down (not easy when the cords are behind equipment). I've updated the firmware 2x since I've had the unit and it still won't play the most recent discs. I'm an electronic engineer and it took me an hour to do the update, I'd imagine most consumers would have to spend a hundred dollars to ship it off for service. I honestly don't know if any other vendors have better equipment. Apple's Steve Jobs once said that Blu-Ray was a "world of hurt." I think I see what he was referring to. The standards for this platform seem to be a moving target. Even discs that work can take 15 minutes to "boot up." Even the worst DVD is up and running in a minute. Don't buy Sharp and proceed carefully if you buy another brand. Be sure you can take the unit back with a full refund. Try renting discs before you buy any.
