(More customer reviews)Not really a whole lot to say about a data cable. The cables are just a s advertised - SATA 20" data cables. I've been using them for about a month now. One for a hard drive and one for a DVD drive. They work. The transfer speed appears constant with posted specifications. I do have another data cable from a different manufacture and I can not tell the difference in speed (I doubt anyone could). The plugs slide on and hold like they should.I gave them five stars because the cables work as expected without any issues. Recommended.

I installed a 1TB sata HD which worked fine.
Lots of room to use mini shock mount screws (full size may or may not fit).
With the front cover on, it got rather warm, but not hot during light use.
I would not try a heavy backup without removing the front cover - this reduced the temp 3-5c.
The major problem is that the USB port did not support SMART!
I found no way to park the drive for power down!
This is said to shorten the drive life greatly
(unless you leave it on for days at a time).
No way to check drive temp (but to buy a thermometer).
I would not buy this for a HD if you plan to use it on USB often.

(More customer reviews)The drive that is pictured on the website is very misleading it shows a Liteon drive
with the Smart Erase feature. The drive you will receive has no Smart Erase feature
that is the main reason why I bought the drive in the first place. Yeah the drive has
the same numbers IHAS 124-04 but you will receive the Y version instead of the A version
which has the Smart Erase function. I'm going to see if I can return the drive for a full
refund since it is not what is pictured and the drive that I ordered in the first place.

Then I installed the included Cyberlink software. I was watching a Blu-Ray within 30 minutes of opening the box. I run a HDMI through my Sony STR-DH800 to my 56" Panasonic 56lcz70, looks and sounds amazing. Turned on the pass-through feature, loved it.

(More customer reviews)My notebook came with an eSATA port but not Blu-ray, so I used this cable and a power brick from a SATA to USB kit to connect a relatively cheap desktop drive to my HP dv4z. I've also used it to connect various SATA HDs to run diagnostics. USB is adequate for optical drives but this cable keeps my notebook's two USB ports free for other things. For external HDs you really, really want SATA.

It took over two years for the price to finally come down. The drive is very easy to install and has burned perfect back ups from 3 different BD-R disc manufactures so it does not seem to be finicky on the blank media it will use. Firmware update through Liteon SmartPack is a one step simple process. Also Liteon has online chat technical advice with very knowledgeable advisers. Also includes CyberLink Blu-ray suite software. If your looking for a very fast quiet BD burner that is easily updated with good technical support do not hesitate to purchase this drive.

(More customer reviews)Although most would describe this unit as cheap for its price, I just would say it's affordable... the difference, well this unit does what it should do in a very reliable and fast way. It's not noisy at all and the installation was simple as it can be. After looking for a decent CD/DVD writer, tons of different prices, I decided to try this one because its price.
I just have to state a warning, the picture here on Amazon it's not the product you will receive, I guess that's the GH24LS50 and the one you're buying is the GH24NS50. This unit (GH24NS50) is the one that doesn't have live scribe, on my personal case... who cares! But I know that a lot of people would see the description image and buy it thinking it's compatible with live scribe when its actually not.
Further than that, I completely recommend this unit, very affordable, reliable and I simply love it!

(More customer reviews)I recieved this drive very promptly, and in good condition. It was packaged very carefully. This is an OEM drive, but it did come with a copy of Nero 8, which isnt the full version but is still pretty handy. It does not include a SATA cable, but you can pick 1 up from syba (blue transparent 17") here on amazon for $1.30, ive bought 4 of them so far and they are just fine. Drive isn't too loud and works pretty fast.(burns the heck out of my old PATA).Note: Drive isn't marked samsung on the tray, but it is a Toshiba Samsung Storage Tech. which is 51% Toshiba 49% Samsung joint venture. Ive owned these drives as oem's in new comps, and theve always been ok for me.I would reccomend this drive for purchase.
