(More customer reviews)My systems in Win7-64. I replaced a CD reader drive with this LG unit. The swap-out was easy and the new drive worked perfectly the first time. When I installed the software that came with the CD it included an option to update the new drive's firmware. So I selected this and proceeded.
The firmware update program attempted to install new drivers for both the LG drive and my existing DVD-R/W drive. But the driver update failed because the drivers were not signed and Win7 requires signed drivers.
After that neither of my 2 optical drives worked. I had to do a System Restore to get them back.
I subsequently found out that Win7 has a boot option that allows you to bypass the requirement for signed drivers. This is the link to the page describing the fix:
[...]Just hit F8 when Windows is starting to get the boot option page.
By selecting the boot option I was able to successfully install all the software with no troubles. Rebooting afterwards got me back to normal Win7 with both drives working OK.
With this caveat I can recommend this drive for people wanting to create Blu-Ray disks. But it sure was a hassle finding the solution.

Optical Quantum 25GB 4X BD-R Logo Top Spindle - 25 pcs Review

(More customer reviews)These Quantum brand blank Blue Ray discs kinda suck with Nero and DVDFAB !! When I tryed to copy a BDMV movie file onto the disc, my BD burner has trouble writing to the disc. I now have about 5 or 6 blue ray coasters (bad discs) If and when i finally get the movie file on the disc my set top player does not notice there is A disc in there or if I can get it to play I just get A black screen. I might not be burning them right, 50%/50%, user error ? ****Updated**** I got the discs to work with ImageBurn, Only, Discs dont work as far as I can tell with any other programs. These discs do scratch very easy. The proticetive layer on them is really, really thin, I can't even tell if there is one. I guess you get what you pay for. Stick to name brands for coping any type of video with other video copying programs then Imgburn. I used A LG burner, Nero 10 express (I dont like this program) and a Sony set top player. Just use these discs with Image Burn and they should work fine.

(More customer reviews)This is another good quality Blank Media from Sony, Amazon is showing January 13th 2011 as first day available but the product title read 2010 Version, I think they came to the US market closer to the out of production date than the creation date but still a good deal while available.
Sony trends to change designs and make improvements every year so I think this one won't be obtainable for long.

(More customer reviews)I have used 4 brands of BD-R discs. I am quite satisfied with my purchase of the Kodak 4x BD-R Discs. Most of my purchases in the past were discs made in Taiwan. I had many coasters and many of the discs played only a few times. Good product and a very competitive price. The package said made in India. I recommend them and will purchase again when needed. They also have a white top surface so I print the movie titles using my Epson printer.

(More customer reviews)I bought this drive to burn video blu-ray discs and watch movies. This is the best drive I have seen on the market at this point in time. It seems to be compatible with all discs (no coasters yet). The drive is quiet, easy to install (depends on your PC and knowledge of installing hardware), and easy to set up. The software to burn and watch movies is included. Mine came with a free BD-R to get started. Just make sure your PC has the correct hardware to handle HD or this drive is not for you.
Depending what video editing software you have, after the burning the video to the disc, the video quality is amazing! All of my discs work on my stand- alone player and my PS3 slim. This drive won't let you down!

(More customer reviews)I bought this 20 pack of TDK Blu-ray disks when they first went on sale. Haven't had a coaster yet; absolutely no issues. Nice inkjet printing surface, too.
I am curious why the shipping DOUBLES the price of these disks, however. For that price, I expect them to be shipped across the Pacific on the back of an endangered Blue Whale, who subsequently suicides in San Diego harbor so his carcass can provide fuel for the Hummer delivering it to my doorstep.

TDK Blu-Ray 25GB Single Layer Recording Disc Review

(More customer reviews)So far I have not had a problem with any TDK blu ray discs. This is my permanent disc after I try it on a rewritable disc first which is what I recommend for blu ray burning. The price of TDK discs are actually pretty good compared to others and the quality is very nice. So far no problems with TDK so I think I will stick with this brand for awhile. Overall fantastic price point and value for what you can put on it.

Worked as expected, they burn really fast without errors. The video quality is top of the line and I will recommend them to any one looking for high quality result. Be careful with long films, I was not able to transfer AVATAR due to the length of it, for those long ones I should use the 50GB model.

Technology is moving faster than time. (More customer reviews)When you need to copy a large amount of 1080 high definition content, but don't need to keep it forever, a BD-RE DL (rewritable double layer) disk is what you need. TDK Japan makes these, and Japanese companies still seem to be the place to go for high quality media. I've been using TDK for more than a year now (in addition to Panasonic and Sony..) so I was surprised about this new "Super Hard Coat" thing that they're advertising. I always thought their previous 'Durabis 2' coat was fine. Never had any problem with scratches. But I guess this 2010 model just made them even tougher...
