It is hard to not sound negative about HP after my experience.
But Really? This is the best you can do HP?
$1200 laptop by the time it gets to your door ...OH after 4 weeks of waiting for it to be "Built" because you added "Upgrades"
By the time this junk gets to you, wouldn't it be great if it actually "Worked"?
But it did not and then began the endless loop of people that ask you to do static discharge tests and other time wasting garbage.
I spent 52 hours in one week with tech support!
Do you have time for that?
HP Should give me the laptop for free as pay for the hours I put in with them on this.
The Wireless in most of the HP mobile devices has issues and in these units it is fatal in my case it functioned for the first 15 minutes out of the box.
It may be that they are utilizing inferior wireless adaptors, I have read this on some of the blogs but I am not an expert, I just know mine would not work after many, many, hours of tech support calls and chats. The laptop simply didn't even "See" the adaptor. It was like it wasn't even in there?
At one point, I was actually asked by HP Tech support to take the machine apart and "Re seat" the adaptor (Read unscrew the cover take the card out by unscrewing it and then put it back together) I did it too! Did not help.
The restore to original factory setting...did that 4 times! No help.
These guys at HP do not have a clue but if you search on YouTube before you buy you will see there are pages and pages of folks that have similar "Issues" with HP products. They are not what they promise, you do not get what you pay for and while they look "Pretty" to some, the return is short lived before the gremlins appear.
Do not get caught in the HP "Trap" take your hard earn dollars elsewhere so you don't waste all the time I did.
Just trying to help others avoid the nightmarish experience I just went through and possibly save you valuable time and money.

After doing some research, I decide to take the plunge and buy a blu ray burner. I have a Toshiba notebook that is fast enough to play blue ray, but wasn't sure if this drive will work. In the end ...this drive worked quite nicely. The order came packaged with the drive only. It lacked software and drivers. I removed the old cd-rom drive (it only takes one screw on the bottom of the notebook) to remove my old cd-rom drive. I had to take the fastener of the old drive and place it in the new drive. It fit perfectly in the slot and the sata connection. I also carefully snapped off the face plate of the Sony drive and replaced it with the Toshiba face plate which gave the drive a flush finish on the notebook. It fit perfectly. I guess all slim type drives are standard. Once installed, the bios recognized the blu ray burner as did Window's 7 64bit home edition. The drivers were installed automatically. If you didn't know already, Window's 7 has the drivers for blu ray players, but won't natively play blu ray (through Media Player) disk because Microsoft lacks the license from Sony to play a blu ray disk. In order to play or burn blu ray, you need a third party program such as Cyberlink power Dvd (blu ray playing software) or Adobe Premiere Elements 8 (blu ray disk movie making software). This drive isn't a speed demon, but it is faster than most stand alone blu ray players.
In summary, before you buy this drive, make sure you have the processor, memory, and driver requirements to play blu ray disk before you try this drive. [...] has a free utility download (Under support) that can tell you if the blu ray drive will work on your system or not. Also depending on your system, you may need brackets or mounts to install the drive.

In December 2010, I ordered a studio XPS computer with all the goodies from Dell. This machine has been a total nightmare for someone who works online. In January 2011 (within 30 days of the purchase) the motherboard, display, and optical drive failed. Dell did send a technician to the house to replace these items. The fixes did not work and Dell sent me a new computer. The new computer was no better than the last; it started crashing on a regular basis. I called Dell for support; they insisted it was a software issue, not covered by the warranty (which expires in 2015).
They transferred me to the software department; I had to pay $107 for them to look at it online. Then the technician insisted that my computer had many viruses. I asked how that could be since McAfee protection came with my system and I was using it regularly. The technician insisted that McAfee was no good - you must buy Norton or this will keep happening. Okay - I did that. Then the technician did something that caused my computer to no longer boot. It took a couple of hours for him to reformat my hard drive. I lost all my information. Thankfully, most of the information was on my old computer since I had had only the new one for a couple weeks.
The past couple of months I have had difficulties using my CD/DVD optical drive. Dell sent a technician out to the house and replaced it. It was tested and worked fine. About 10 min. after the technician left, I tried to install a new program. My whole computer crashed. I called the technician and he called Dell who said that I had to call Dell for further repairs. I did. I spent about four hours with somebody in the hardware support division fishing around inside my computer. He kept trying to update my drivers for the optical drive, which the technician installed a few hours earlier. Eventually, the online technician deleted something and my computer crashed and refused to reboot.
I called Dell back and they sent me back to hardware support making me do a number of tests with the different F 1-12 buttons. Eventually we got it restarted and he sent me over to software because he could not figure out what was wrong. Once again, I had to pay for software support. After about three hours of testing, software support could not fix the problem either. Software decided that it was a hardware problem and the motherboard and optical drive need replaced again. There was no refund from the software support I purchased, even though it did not help. Here is a word to the wise - DO NOT BUY A DELL COMPUTER!

Atum SATA CD/DVD/Blu Ray Duplicator Controller (1 to 8) with Select Source Button Review

Atum SATA CD/DVD/Blu Ray Duplicator Controller (1 to 8) with Select Source Button
Average Reviews:

Assembly couldn't be easier. SATA power plug, sata optical drive cables and sata connection to hard drive (optional)
Power it on, wait for it to boot. It ejects all the drives, load disk to be copied from and as many blanks as you have/need, close them, and it does the rest. Works great with a hard drive for making more copies than you have drives. The average burn time for full dvds has been 5.5 minutes (I've made about 60 dvds so far)
The only complaint I have is that the instructions (which are mostly flow charts of the menu layouts, with a few explanations) was devoid of any installation directions. I used the two blue sata jacks for the source drive and the hard drive.

This Samsung Blu Ray Player / CD /DVD burner with Lightscribe is a very good drive.
Easy to install and easy to use.
I note another review that the box is supposed to include SATA cables and screws.
In my case they were not needed because I used the existing SATA cable and carrier.
The drive is great but be aware that you will need to purchase software
to view Blu Ray movies, the included software only plays DVD movies.
It includes the usual CD / DVD software for burning and playing.
The 12x BD read speed is nuch better than most drives and the blu ray movies play very smoothly.
Most of the other drives on Amazon are 8x or 10x

I just purchased this product at BB yesterday, and I couldn't be happier! This was one case where BB had a better price than Amazon, $599.99. This is an exceptionally good laptop for that kind of dough, it does everything I need it to and then some. I have to give kudos to Intel for this amazing processor, it is way faster than my core 2 duo, with a lot of the same specs. The screen, however, is my favorite part, really crisp and clear for every purpose. I am not a gamer though, so that may not be it's best purpose. For a general household computer, it is more than sufficient with internet needs, email, music storage and streaming, and for movies as well, although a blu-ray disc player would be a nice addition. Not that I can complain for the price!! This gets 2 very big thumbs up!

ASUS G73SW-A1 Republic of Gamers 17.3-Inch Gaming Laptop (Black)
Average Reviews:

First things first. This is the REVISED version of the Sandy Bridge chip-set. For all of you who are worried about the recall you don't have to worry when buying this laptop.
I purchased this laptop as a replacement for my old HP G60. I have been wanting to buy a new computer for some time now but had never looked too deeply into it. I originally wanted to build a custom pc and never thought that a laptop could keep up with a desktop. That is until I saw this computer. This computer is an amazing piece of hardware which manages to stay cool to the touch after hours of operation. Never would I have thought that I could find a laptop this powerful, let alone for under $1800.
PROS:
It has the new i7 Sandy Bridge which can tear through any task you throw at it.
The nvidia GTX 460M with 1.5 GB of DDR5. Windows tells me this card has 4GB total memory
Great speakers for a laptop. Never have I heard such sound come from a laptop.
The screen which as far as I can tell has about the same contrast as my 40 inch LED TV.
Can output 3D onto a 3DTV through HDMI
The keyboard has a great feel and the back light looks great every time I see it
The finish feels great to touch and does not show fingerprints.
This computer has BY FAR the best cooling I have seen on a laptop. It stays cooler than my old G60 which would power off if left sitting on a flat surface and would burn my hands.
CONS:
Honestly I dont have any cons that I can find. Just some problems that I am sure most people wont experience. After I installed virpe antivirus i got a BSOD and had to do a system restore to fix. However after the system restore I had to uninstall the drivers for the back lit keyboard and re-install them so they would work again. That and this computer came with Google chrome pre-installed. It would not open or uninstall. I had to install a new copy of chrome for it to work and now on my add/remove programs i have 2 copies of Google chrome.
Overall this laptop far exceeds my expectations for what a laptop can do. Most desktops will have a hard time keeping up with it. If you are in the market for a desktop replacement I honestly cant think of a much better way to spend $1800.

Spartan Duo 3 Target SATA DVD Duplicator with USB Slot D03-SDSP (Black) Review

Spartan Duo 3 Target SATA DVD Duplicator with USB Slot D03-SDSP (Black)
Average Reviews:

I have this unit, and purchased it after looking at a bunch of others. I bought this one, mainly for the use of SATA drives. So far I have burned 100's of discs on it, and no bad burns. I have burned mainly DVD's, dual layer DVD's and CD's. You can select burn speeds, read speeds etc. Here is a tip to save yourself some $$, but it probably will void your warranty. You can install your own SATA HDD in this unit, so that when you duplicate, you can write from an internal HDD and not the SATA read only drive. All the hookups are in the unit, you only will need a SATA cable...VERY easy to do. Once you have the HDD installed, you can have the unit format it and you are ready to go. You can then copy the image to the internal HDD and name it for easy reference. I am actually glad that I opened the unit up, since some of the cables were not on the SATA drives tight, probably came loose in shipping. Highly recommended, but the unit is pretty loud because of the units fans. You don't have to wait between burns for a cool down, since the fans push a high volume of air through the unit. Good deal, and with free shipping...who can go wrong?

LG Electronics CT10N Slim SATA Blu-Ray Combo Drive - Retail Review

LG Electronics CT10N Slim SATA Blu-Ray Combo Drive - Retail
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
As my title says, I popped this drive into my ASUS G50VT-X5 laptop. Installation was a breeze (there's a great video on YouTube. Search. You'll find it.) I removed two screws from the bottom of the laptop, slid my old drive out, removed the plastic bezel and metal guide (which has four screws) from the old one, put them on the new BD drive, and it just slid right in with no problems. Once the screws were back in place, it was secure, and Windows 7 recognized it right away.
This plays Blu-ray movies with the help of some additional (not included) software. Cyberlink PowerDVD does the trick, but there are other software packages out there that will play Blu-ray Disc movies. Windows doesn't do it natively, though; You'll need additional software.
The other functions all seem OK. It handles DVDs, CDs, and RWs just fine. It burns well on CD, DVD, DVD DL, and other CD or DVD media. It does not burn Blu-ray Discs, though, so be sure you're not looking for a Blu-ray burner when you get this!
What more can I say? SATA has made installation incredibly easy, and everything works as advertised. If you're looking to upgrade a laptop to Blu-ray, this is probably the best deal going. Just make sure your laptop has some serious horsepower, because low-end computers can't handle processing Blu-ray movies. You need a decent CPU, a decent GPU (not a cheap GMA onboard chip) and a fair amount of RAM (by today's standards).
If your computer's up to it, having BD support is pretty nice.
Now if only they'd start packing multi-disc DVD Windows games on single BDs, I'd be all set!

I bought this for the first PC I built. Very easy installation. This drive is a great bang for your buck.
The only word of caution, this is the OEM version of the drive. It does not come with the Serial ATA cable needed to connect to your motherboard. Luckily my motherboard came with extra cables but that is something to consider when purchasing. But you can get a 18in SATA cable on amazon for a couple dollars so it's not a big deal.

Pro's: FAST! crushes anything I throw at it with all settings maxed out both on the card and in the game.
Cons:Coil Whine! if you read a lot of forums around the net you will see several complaints about something called coil whine, it only does it when your in a game and some may mistake it for fan noise but you will hear a mild static whine or a loud buzzing. This is perfectly normal for higher voltage cards and I was lucky enough for it to go away on it's own. I was ready to take this back the same day but decided to play around with it and see what I could do. Once I maxed out everything on it and ran it in Crysis 2 for about an hour it went away.
Use AfterBurner and change the fan to about 40-45% this will cool things down and cover some of the noise, Run something graphic heavy for a bit and see if it goes away. I have read that one of the only ways to make it go away is to take it apart and use silicon on the coil.
Enough on that,
I upgraded from a 6870 and because it is only one generation up I did not expect a huge difference, what a surprise! This machine was a beast before but now it's just down right insane!
System Specs,
AMD Phenom II BE x4 3.4 GHZ OC'd to 3.8
16gb DDR3 1333
Asus EVO
Cooler Master Silent Pro 800w 80 plus gold
Cooler Master V6 GT
I was only going to give it 4 stars but because that annoying noise went away I gave it 5.

HP Pavilion Elite M9520F Desktop PC (2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 Processor, 8 GB RAM, 750 GB Hard Drive, Blu-ray Drive, Vista Premium) Review

HP Pavilion Elite M9520F Desktop PC (2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 Processor, 8 GB RAM, 750 GB Hard Drive, Blu-ray Drive, Vista Premium)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My review is mostly for Enthusiast/Professional Photographers...
I needed a new powerful desktop with 64-bit processing. My Sony Vaio desktop that once was cutting edge two years ago,is now not able to keep up with many of todays demands. Especially my updated versions of Photoshop CS, and Lightroom 2.3 which works native in 64-bit.
64-bit allows windows to accept, use and maximize a computer with 4+ gbs of RAM. The HP Pavilion Elite M9550F comes pre-installed with a maxed out 8gbs of ram.
So for a photographer using high end software, and downloading large amounts of files. This computer works swiftly and effortlessly.
On my older sony desktop, it took about 15 minutes to download 4gb off of a compact flashcard. I could not do any other task while it downloaded, or risked data loss or the download not completing.
It takes about a minute to download with the HP, and I listen to music and/or check emails with no detectable slow down in the system.
On my old desktop, if I changed modules in lightroom, or did any form of editing it took a few seconds to see the changes. I sometimes had to hit Ctrl+Z so I can see the before image. With my new HP,... It's so fast that I miss the changes if they are not drastic. The screen appears to blink, because it responds so fast to my commands.
The onboard 1TB of storage is another huge plus. There are still very few desktops on the market with an internal 1TB drive. I have purchased three 1TB external hardrives, with two mirroring the HP's internal drive. There is a bay available that can be used for an additional internal drive, and you can purchase a HP Media Drive up to 1TB to plug right into a special bay. No wires, or software is necessary.
I distribute CD's to models and clients often. The LightScribe technology that is part of the CD/DVD drive lets you etch custom labels and artwork right on a LightScribe-enabled CD or DVD. This allows you to look professional and a cut about the rest.
There are several ways to hook up a monitor, so I have the VGA attached to my old CRT monitor, and HDMI port attached to a 30inch flatscreen. Using dual displays is just a few clicks, and takes your image editing to another level.
There are a lot of features that I'm sure I missed, but these are the standout features to me, using it for photography.

Delivering an amazing high-end home entertainment experience, DirectX 10 gaming, and power for the most demanding PC tasks, the HP Pavilion m9520f Elite desktop PC is powered by the 2.5 GHz quad-core Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300. With four cores in a single processor, the Core 2 Quad and the 8 GB of RAM (maximum capacity) deliver excellent multitasking and multimedia performance, and it's a perfect match for the pre-installed 64-bit version of Windows Vista Home Premium. You can also go wireless and clutter-free with wireless keyboard, mouse, and remote control, and it includes the next step in Wi-Fi networking with a Draft-N wireless LAN (802.11b/g/n).
A recessed landing pad on top of the chassis offers a convenient place for connecting USB and FireWire devices. One touch of the HP Easy Backup button lets you back up your files instantly, helping to protect irreplaceable photos and files. It comes with a combo optical drive with Blu-ray Disc playback for watching your favorite films in crystal-clear resolution and SuperMulti DVD burner with LightScribe technology that lets you etch custom, silkscreen-quality labels and artwork directly onto LightScribe-enabled CDs and DVDs.
This Pavilion Elite offers a built-in drive bay to fit an optional HP Pocket Media Drive, for up to 160 GB of additional storage that you can carry away with you when you go (media drive not included). Other features include a 750 GB hard drive, Nvidia GeForce 9600 GS graphics with up to 2558 MB of total available graphics memory, HDMI and DVI video outputs, 15-in-1 memory card reader, up to 8 channels of surround sound output, and Gigabit Ethernet wired networking. It comes with a wired keyboard and mouse.
The pre-installed 64-bit version of Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium (Service Pack 1) includes all of the Windows Media Center capabilities for turning your PC into an all-in-one home entertainment center. In addition to easily playing your DVD movies and managing your digital audio library, you'll be able to record and watch your favorite TV shows (even HDTV). Vista also integrates new search tools throughout the operating system, includes new parental control features, and offers new tools that can warn you of impending hardware failures.
The Basics
Processor: With four execution cores, the 2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q8300 blows through processor-intensive tasks in demanding multitasking environments and makes the most of highly threaded applications. Part of Intel's "Penryn" line of 45nm processors, it features new hafnium-infused circuitry to reduce electrical current leakage in transistors and help this desktop run cooler. It also features Intel Trusted Execution Technology, which provides hardware-based mechanisms that help protect against software-based attacks and protects the confidentiality and integrity of data stored or created on the client PC.
Whether you're creating multimedia, annihilating your gaming enemies, or running compute-intensive applications at one time, new quad-core processing will change the way you do everything. The Q8300 has a top-of-the-line 1333 MHz front-side bus (FSB) and a 4 MB L2 cache. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system's performance. The FSB carries data between the CPU and RAM, and a faster front-side bus will deliver better overall performance.)
You get four dedicated, physical threads help operating systems and applications deliver additional performance that enhance multi-tasking and multi-threaded performance across many types of applications and work loads. Western Digital My Passport AV 320 GB USB 2.0 Portable External Media Drive (Black) Review

Western Digital My Passport AV 320 GB USB 2.0 Portable External Media Drive (Black)
Average Reviews:

This external hard drive is smaller than it looks in the pictures. It can even fit in most pockets! It works well as it's marketed: as an AV storage device connected to a device in your home entertainment system such as to a PS3 or Blu-Ray player (check the compatibility list). Naturally, it can be used as a normal external hard drive connected to your laptop or desktop computer as well.
One questions I had was whether or not this can work with a TiVo to add more storage, it unfortunately cannot since the TiVo requires an E-SATA interface and this drive uses USB 2.0.
One thing that's nice about this is that it requires no external power source, it gets power from the USB. It also runs very cool so there is no fear of it overheating or adding additional heat when inside of an entertainment cabinet.
The sleek design makes it nice for traveling as well. It also comes with a stand to hold the drive vertically if you want.
If you need more storage for your media center, and have a supported device that you want to connect this hard drive to, I can recommend this Western Digital.

Intel Pentium G6950 Processor 2.8GHz 3 MB Cache Socket LGA1156

According to intel's website, this model does have HD Graphics built in. Here's the link [...].
I am not spamming or trying to put the first review down but bring back up what I think is sort of an unfair review.
If you aren't getting any video with this processor and have a P55 chipset motherboard, (you only get a blue screen that says Intel, nothing else) than you might have to go to intel.com on another computer and download the newest bios and video software.
I don't have this product but I just want to help anyone who wants the cheapest LGA1156 (so you can upgrade later) slot processor available.
